Our studio based Music Production School means all classes will have you in the studio on the first day and every day going forward! Whether you want to be a recording engineer, a record producer, or simply record your own music like the pros, our school will get you where you want to be.

In our comprehensive 14-week program, you will learn how to track, mix, edit, engineer, and produce records. And you don't even have to be a musician to do it. All you need is passion and a great ear for music.

Dark Horse Institute is unique because we offer more hands-on experience than any other school in the world. You will learn in a real recording studio, where some of the biggest artists come to record.

We don’t have classrooms: we have studios. Every day you will either be in one of our recording studios or at your Digital Audio Workstation. Our instructors will train you on professional gear that is used every day to create chart-topping records. We do not use “student” equipment. Dark Horse Institute has four recording studios and multiple Pro Tools workstations that serve as classrooms and training areas because we know that students learn by doing. You will learn how to set up a complex recording sessions and record in a variety of settings, using professional software, recording consoles, microphones, and signal processing gear. For your final project, you will practice the techniques and skills you’ve learned by recording, editing, and mixing six-song EPs for two bands of different genres.
